Zaman Mirzadeh, MD, PhD, is a neurosurgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute. Dr. Mirzadeh’s expertise includes functional neurosurgery, surgical management of facial pain and chronic neuropathic pain, neuromodulation for chronic pain, and neuroablative techniques for cancer pain management. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, World Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, International Society for Stem Cell Research, and Society for Neuroscience. Dr. Mirzadeh earned his doctorate and medical degrees from the University of California at San Francisco. He completed his residency at Barrow Neurological Institute. He completed a fellowship in functional neurosurgery at Toronto Western Hospital and another in advanced pain at the Baylor College of Medicine MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Mirzadeh’s research interests include Type 2 diabetes, central nervous system control of glucose homeostasis and energy balance, and pain modulation in the spinal cord dorsal horn.
