Originally from South Carolina, Rita P. Jen, MD, MPH, moved to Georgia to attend Emory University for college, double majoring in Biology and Chinese Language & Literature. She then obtained her Master in Public Health at Emory Rollins School of Public Health and worked in global humanitarian and developmental aid before earning her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Dr. Jen then completed her urology residency at the University of Michigan followed by fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Southern California.Dr. Jen specializes in all facets of general urology, including kidney stones, bladder and kidney tumors, prostate disease, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and Da Vinci robotic surgeries.She also has fellowship-level expertise in complex voiding dysfunction and incontinence in men and women, pelvic floor disorders, pelvic organ prolapse, female urology, vaginal mesh complications, urinary fistulas, and female urethral strictures. She can perform surgery for artificial urinary sphincters, slings (both synthetic and autologous fascial), botulinum toxin and neuromodulation for incontinence. She can also perform vaginal or robotic surgery for pelvic organ prolapse.Furthermore, Dr. Jen has a particular interest in caring for patients with neurogenic bladder, which is bladder dysfunction caused by a brain, spinal cord, or nerve problem. She may offer urinary diversion or bladder augmentation with or without a catheterizable channel in certain individuals with neurogenic bladder.In her spare time, Dr. Jen enjoys spending time with her family and exploring Georgia. Her hobbies include running, the outdoors, traveling, cooking, and trying new restaurants. Dr. Jen is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
