Company description

The Motion Spine Institute at Larkin offers the most advanced and groundbreaking technique for patients to alleviate back, neck, and leg pain and restore the natural human spine anatomy. Our mission is in our name, we aim to relieve pain while preserving the natural motion of the spine. Our surgeons offer techniques at the forefront of the healthcare industry, including minimally invasive decompression and reconstructive surgeries. We use cutting edge technologies, including intraoperative diagnostic devices that help our surgeons see in real-time the anatomical structures of the spine and evaluate their operational performance. Our surgeons have invented and patented devices and techniques to reconstruct the natural anatomy of the spine. These techniques have received FDA approval, such as the world’s first patent for lamina implant and method in the cervical spine. This implant and procedure allows for the removal of the spinal lamina, the back portion of the spine, and replacement with a brand-new lamina. This opens the spinal canal, releasing any pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots. Similar to the way that a hip can be replaced with a brand new hip (arthroplasty), the spinal lamina can now be removed and replaced with a brand-new lamina. We do not perform spinal fusion, in which the intervertebral disc (the cushion between the vertebrae) is removed, and the two adjacent vertebrae are bound together. This surgery leads to a complete loss of motion in the fused level of the spine. Instead, we use the latest technologies such as lumbar and cervical artificial discs that replace the damaged disc and replicate the functions of a natural disc, including compression, flexion, extension, axial rotation, and lateral flexion. Beyond these technologies, we offer experienced hands to guide them. Our physicians have over 22 years of experience and have treated thousands of patients with herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, bone spurs, spinal arthritis, spondylolisthesis, and spinal tumors. It is from this experience that we’ve learned that every patient presents a unique and specific diagnostic situation. Therefore, we tailor each treatment plan to the individual patient and their presenting symptoms and radiological findings. As a patient, making the decision to have surgery is no light task, and neither is it for us. We ensure that all non-surgical options are exhausted and that surgical intervention is an absolutely necessary treatment plan. For example, in cases of severe compression of the spinal cord (myelopathy), surgery is imperative because the pressure can cause irreversible nerve damage and can result in the loss of bladder/bowel control, ataxia (impaired coordination), or paralysis. The severity of your condition and medical history will help us determine the best treatment plan for you. The combination of our experience, technological capabilities, surgical approach, and interdisciplinary and educational atmosphere, offers patients an experience, unlike other neurosurgery centers. We provide innovative and current techniques in spinal surgery that result in excellent clinical outcomes, including lower rates of subsequent surgery, adjacent level surgery, or disability, and better pain scores. Our approach allows us to offer a treatment plan designed specifically for your condition and symptoms. Contact us today for an appointment to discuss your symptoms and take the next steps to recovery and relieving your pain.
