Lauren R. Hayes, Ph.D., is a pediatric psychologist with Norton Children’s Behavioral & Mental Health, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. She earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Louisville, and her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Memphis in Tennessee. Dr. Hayes completed a residency in clinical health psychology at Augusta University-Medical College of Georgia and Charlie Norwood Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, and a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology psychology at Norton Children’s Cancer Institute, affiliated with the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Hayes’ clinical focus is providing brief assessment and intervention to children diagnosed with blood disorders or cancer and their families. She helps children and families cope with emotions related to medical diagnoses and treatment, use nonpharmacological strategies to manage side effects of treatment, and engage in healthy lifestyle behaviors. Dr. Hayes' goal as a psychologist is to provide care that honors patients and families’ values and supports them in moving through difficult diagnoses and treatments. In her spare time, Dr. Hayes enjoys being with her friends and family. She likes spending Saturday mornings at the local farmers market with her husband and golden retriever and getting to the lake whenever she can.
