Company description

Dr. Burns is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialty fellowship training in sports medicine. She completed an international traveling fellowship sponsored by the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society in 2005 with a focus on shoulder surgery. Dr. Burns attended the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated magna cum laude with degrees in biology and psychology. She was a member of several honor societies including Phi Beta Kappa and the Premedical Honor Society. She received her medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, where she was nominated for Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical school honor society. Dr. Burns completed orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah; one of the top 25 orthopedic surgery programs in the country. After residency, Dr. Burns completed fellowship training for sports medicine at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California. Dr. Burns is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. On a local level, she is a member of the Missouri Orthopedic Association. Dr. Burns has initiated several clinical studies, and in 2015, received a research grant from the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society to evaluate anti-inflammatory medication effect on healing rates and clinical outcomes after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. She is actively involved in research to improve patient outcomes.
