Hanano Watanabe, M.D., M.S., is a general pediatric cardiologist at Weill Cornell Medicine. She received her B.S./M.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and minor in French Literature from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She then received her M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed her residency in pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Watanabe worked as a pediatric hospitalist in the pediatric cardiac critical care unit at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York at Columbia University Medical Center prior to completing her fellowship in pediatric cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Centerand Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Watanabe's research interests include topics in preventive pediatric cardiology, including evaluation and management of pediatric dyslipidemia, hypertension, and promoting healthy lifestyles in children to maximize their cardiovascular wellness. She believes that maintaining cardiovascular wellnessis important for all, and especially paramount for children with congenital heart disease or any other chronic childhood illnesses. Furthermore, she is interested in early childhood determinants of health, including early nutrition and the maternal-fetal environment. Her academic interests include medical education and quality initiatives. She is the associate program director for the Cornell campus for the pediatric cardiology fellowship program. Dr. Watanabe is proficient in Japanese.
