Drew Matthew Caplin, MD is an accomplished physician specializing in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology. With 18 years of experience, he has dedicated his career to education and service administration/leadership. Devoted to advancing the field of Radiology, Dr. Caplin has developed and led the NSLIJ Interventional Radiology Residency Program, which received continuing accreditation.Dr. Caplin currently serves as the Program Director for the Integrated and Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Programs, as well as an Associate Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He is also a member of the Academy of Medical Educators at the school, recognizing his significant contributions to medical education at all levels. In his role on the Curriculum Committee, Dr. Caplin has developed both traditional and virtual curricula for the Interventional Radiology Elective.Nationally, Dr. Caplin is a respected lecturer and has presented at meetings of prestigious medical societies such as the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology, Association of Academic Radiologists, and the Radiological Society of North America. He has contributed to the development of educational modules for the Society of Interventional Radiology's Essentials National Interventional Radiology Curriculum.Dr. Caplin has held leadership roles within various organizations, demonstrating his dedication to service, administration, and quality patient care. He has served on committees for the Association of Program Directors in Interventional Radiology, Association of Program Directors in Radiology, Association of Clinical Educators in Radiology, American College of Radiology, and the Society of Interventional Radiology. As chair of the American College of Radiology's Committee on Practice Parameters and Technical Standards as well as the Society of Interventional Radiology's Practice Improvement and Change Committee, he plays a crucial role in improving the quality of care provided by Interventional Radiologists and the broader Radiology community.His clinical focus is on Musculoskeletal Interventions for patients with benign as well as malignant disease. As a Interventional Radiologist at Cohen Children's Medical Center he cares for children of all ages. Additionally, he practices general adult Interventional Radiology.Recognized for his significant contributions, Dr. Caplin has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and the Society of Interventional Radiology. These prestigious honors highlight his regional and national reputation in the Education and Service Administration/Leadership pillars of the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.Dr. Caplin received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and a fellowship specializing in Vascular/Interventional Radiology at the same institution.Dr. Caplin sees patients at multiple locations, including Northwell Health Imaging centers and affiliate facilities.
